Easy
Breathing
E-Z Breathing is an asthma
management program that has
been shown to improve the
recognition and treatment
of asthma. Mansfield Pediatrics
incorporates E-Z Breathing
into our practice in order
to improve care of our patients
with asthma. Two of our physicians
help train other pediatric
providers from the Northeastern
portion of Connecticut to
use the E-Z Breathing program.
 Reach
Out and Read
Reach Out and Read is a national
organization that promotes
early literacy, known
to be an essential skill
for success. Through a generous
grant from Reach Out and
Read, Mansfield Pediatrics
is able to provide books
to our patients during well-child
care visits. These books
are not only a gift to our
patients but also provide
us with an opportunity to
evaluate our patient's developmental
progress and demonstrate
the value of reading.
Prenatal
Conferences
We enjoy becoming acquainted
with prospective parents
at our office during quiet
times before your baby is
born. Choosing a pediatrician
is an important decision,
and we hope to have a long-lasting
relationship with you and
your child. This visit will
allow you to ask questions
you may have about a wide
variety of topics ranging
from infant care to office
procedures. It also allows
you to meet us, in person,
before deciding to entrust
your child's care to us.
There is no charge for this
visit.
Adolescent
Care
Pediatricians receive training
specific to the care of adolescents.
We greatly value our relationship
with our teenage patients.
Confidentiality is an important
aspect of our care with your
teenager, and we encourage
them to take responsibility
of their health as their
ability allows. We employ
different methods to help
maintain open lines of communication.
We often care for teenagers
as they transition to adult
life.
Autism
Screening
Along with our routine developmental
screening, Mansfield Pediatrics
utilizes a questionnaire
known as M-CHAT (Modified
Checklist for Autism in Toddlers)
to assist us in screening
for autism at the 18- and
24-month well-c hild care
visit. Early recognition
of autism and developmental
disabilities can lead to
better outcomes. Mansfield
Pediatric's patients have
the added benefit of choosing
to participate in an ongoing
study about autism at UCONN
which helps individuals enroll
in early treatment programs.
