Providing
pediatric care for your child
from infancy through adolescence.
Our practice is devoted
to newborns, children and adolescents. All
physicians are highly trained and board certified pediatricians
practicing in northeastern Connecticut
since 1978. Our nursing staff will help you and answer questions
on the phone, but you will always be seen by the pediatrician
of your choice during office visits.
We are deeply involved in our local
communities. Our children attend local schools, and our staff
are active in school and athletic events as well as community
projects and organizations.
We are proud of the comprehensive care we give, partners attending
all our patients who are hospitalized locally. After hours, we
return your telephone calls. We are likely
to be partners for many years, since we care for
children the moment they are delivered until they attend
college or begin a career. We continue to see many young adults
for emergencies or special problems until they select an internist,
and we can often give you information about health problems
affecting other members of your family.
The towns of Ashford, Chaplin, Columbia, Coventry, Hampton,
Lebanon, Mansfield, Scotland, Willington, Windham and Willimantic
are within a few minutes drive from our office and our local
Windham
Ho
spital. We also see many patients from Andover,
Brooklyn, Canterbury, Colchester, Eastford, Franklin, Tolland,
Norwich, Union and other more distant communities. If
you wish to come to our practice, we will be happy to see your
children.

by calling (860) 423-2960 or (860) 456-2672.
Scheduling Appointments
Our practice keeps its phone lines open
during regular office house to ensure immediate attention from
our office staff. We ask that you call early during morning
hours to schedule sick visits. Please call our office during
off-peak times (such as late morning or early afternoon) for
prescriptions, lab results, referrals and general physical
appointments.
We do our best to maintain our daily patient schedule
and accommodate the needs of our patients, but we ask for your
patience and understanding when one or more of the physicians
are delayed due to in office or hospital emergencies.
Our office
is closed for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. All calls
during this time will be answered by our answering service.
Patients
are seen by appointment only. We understand children sometimes
need immediate, yet non life-threatening, attention; but we
ask that you please call our office prior to arrival for
proper instructions. This will allow us to better assist
you and avoid disrupting our regular office schedule.
We also ask that no
more than two siblings be scheduled consecutively for well-child
visits; however, we will make exceptions for triplets.
Child
and Adolescent Appointments
When your child or adolescent is
scheduled for an appointment, we ask that a parent or legal
guardian be present, since immunizations may be necessary.
Adult caretakers cannot sign for immunizations. Connecticut
law requires that parents must receive and review the vaccine
information sheet for each vaccine your child will receive.
Therefore, if your child is coming in for vaccines without
a parent or guardian contact us for the necessary information
in advance.
Due to frequent changes in health insurance coverage,
please be prepared to show us your insurance card upon arrival
for each visit.
Cancellations
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please
notify our office at least 24 hours in advance so that another
patient may be given this time.
Emergencies Top
Call 911 immediately in case of life-threatening emergencies.
You may reach the Connecticut Poison Control Center at (800)
222-1222.
If it is not a life-threatening emergency and it is during
regular office hours, please call our office number at (860)
423-2960 or (860) 456-2672 before going to the emergency
room or urgent-care facility. Our advice nurse will advise
you on how best to care for your child.
Our pediatricians are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
by calling (860) 423-2960. After hours, our answering service
will contact the on-call
physician. You will receive a call from the physician within
an appropriate period of time. If you do not hear from an
on-call physician (usually due to poor cell service), please
call back. The answering service has other methods for reaching
the physician on call.
Advice Nurse Call-Backs
During our office hours our own advice nurse will promptly return calls as
they are received from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If your call is urgent, please
inform the receptionist when you call. If you have extensive questions
or your child is showing medical symptoms, please schedule an appointment.
Prescription Refills
Please call your pharmacy for refills of your prescriptions. The pharmacist
will contact our office should doctor approval be necessary. While we try
to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible with prescription refills,
please allow us 72 hours to contact your pharmacist. If you have an urgent
request, please inform our receptionist. Prescriptions for controlled substances,
such as Ritalin, must be picked up at the office and cannot be mailed or
faxed.
Cell Phone Use During Office Visits
If it is necessary for you to use your phone while in the office building
prior to your office visit, please step outside or in our foyer to complete
your phone call. While in the exam room, please turn your phone off
or select a silent setting.
Camp and School Forms
Because of the high volume of forms to process, especially during the summer
months, please allow 5 business days for forms to be completed.
We can return forms mailed with self-addressed stamped envelope.
Forms can be completed during your scheduled physical exam if you have filled
out the initial sections.
Electronic Medical Records Top
Our practice is proud to be using Eclinical Works as our electronic health
record for our patients. Electronic medical records enable us to more efficiently
document, retrieve, and track all of our patient's health information.
Insurance
Co-pays
Our contracts with health insurance companies dictate that we must collect
a co-pay at each visit based on your individual plan.
While we are familiar with most insurance plans, some companies offer different options to their employees under their plans. It is important for you as our patients to be familiar with your individual plan.
If you have an insurance company that we do not participate with, our billing
staff can help you file your insurance claim. It is always a good idea
to contact your insurance company for specific details of your plan, as any
unpaid balances will be the patient's responsibility.
