Making An Appointment
When you call during office hours, our receptionist will find a time which suits
you for your well-child
visit. Urgent problems are seen immediately. We try to see patients on time,
but occasionally emergencies disrupt our plans. You will be informed as soon
as possible of any unusual delay or cancellation.
Missed Appointments
Please call our office if you cannot keep an appointment so
the time can be assigned to another sick patient. There is
a charge for a missed appointment.
After Hours
Our office telephone is answered 24 hours a day. If
we are not in the office, our answering service will contact
us, and the pediatrician on call will contact you. Our
office closes during our lunch hour, but the telephone
is answered by a service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. During
lunch, as well as after hours, you can always reach our
answering service in an emergency at (860) 456-2672/(860)
423-2960.
Hospitalization
In the unlikely event that your child should be ill enough
to require hospitalization, we will make arrangements at Windham
Hospital, where we can personally attend to and care for your
child. Windham Hospital has a special pediatric division and
full-time trained pediatric staff to care for your child. Parents
can stay with their child or visit anytime.
Should your child
have a very severe or unusual illness, we will make arrangements
for hospitalization at a university hospital and
will follow your child's progress by consulting with the
respective pediatric specialists.
Prenatal Conferences
Choosing a pediatrician is an important decision because you
will be working with your pediatrician for many years. We enjoy
becoming acquainted with prospective parents at our office
at a quiet time before your baby is born. This will allow you
to ask questions and discuss general matters relating to infant
care. There is no charge for this visit.
Medical Records Our staff is extremely careful
to keep all medical records and information confidential. Fees
Our fees are based on the complexity of
the problem and on the time required to see each patient. We will be happy
to discuss your child's problem briefly over the phone which may prevent an
unnecessary office visit. Charges for office visits are due at the time of
your visit. If you have questions, or if any unusual financial problems arise,
please let us know. Our billing staff will arrange a payment schedule that
is convenient.
Forms
We need 7 working days to complete
forms for camp, school, day care, medication, etc. You must fill in all blanks;
we will review and sign the forms. We do not fax forms. Include
an addressed, stamped envelope or plan to pick up the forms.
Insurance
The receipt given to you after your
visit has been designed to be used for insurance purposes. File your claims
with your insurance company by attaching our form to our insurance carrier's
claim form. We will help you as much as we can, but your insurance is a contract
between you and your insurance company, and you are responsible for your balance
here regardless of what your insurance pays. If your carrier has not responded
within four to six weeks after your form has been mailed, please follow up
on your claim by calling your insurance representative or by speaking to the
proper person at your company's personnel department.
If your insurance carrier
is Blue Cross/Blue Shield, ConnectiCare, Aetna Health, Mashantucket Pequot,
Oxford Health, Cigna Health, PHS (Physicians Health Services),Community Health
Plan, Private Health Care Systems, your co-pay is due on the date of service.
We will bill your insurance company for the remaining balance.
